Wellhead Desanders

Sand is a problem in many oil and gas fields throughout the world. This is directly related to the accelerated production of water, the unconsolidated nature of some reservoirs, and the properties of some heavy and viscous crudes. As a result, many operators are experiencing large quantities of sand in well fluids, accompanied by problems of erosion, solids accumulation, and/or equipment blockage.

To meet these challenges, MidWest Oil & Gas Engineering has developed a Solid/Liquid hydrocyclone to deal with the problem and remove particles from multi-phase wellhead streams upstream of the production choke and therefore eliminate solid particles upstream of all process equipments. The separated sand is collected in an accumulator vessel beneath the cyclone which can be isolated and flushed periodically.

Our design is extremely versatile offering a wide range of operating conditions, taking into account produced fluid properties, flowrates, particle size distribution, solids concentration, pressures, temperatures as well as the presence of free gas content. Depending on particle size distribution, 99% of solids are removed with minimum pressure drop.
The design comes in different sizes and can be manufactured from different materials including ceramic lined units.
